I'm just a fat gal with a blog and an opinion. Well, lots of opinions.

Wow, Roaman’s, I’m Impressed!

June2

I got a catalog from Roaman’s in the mail yesterday and I flipped through with my usual disdain for these things. But I was pleasantly surprised, I must say! Usually I flip through these fatty catalogs with my eyes ready to roll. I rarely fatshion blog or wish list, but here’s what I found to be fab in this here catalog (and were I not beyond poor at the point would absolutely buy):

The essential oversized tops you can dress up or dress down. Cotton. M
2 Pocket Henley Tank

Complete the look with our dyed-to-match cardigan, item# 507-46471. Ou
Floral Print Empire Waist Maxi Dress

Pullover with short sleeves. Polyester georgette; cotton voile lining.
So it seems I’m leaning more femme suddenly! Ha-ha! I would have guessed all plaids and polka dots, nope! And ruffles? I’m usually not that into ’em, but okay. That first tank, well, I love the look and length and two pockets? Yes, please! Simple and classic and casual, just like moi! Not! I’m boho at heart and I think this shows especially with the florals. That big shirt is so gorgeous it hurts! I don’t know though, there’s a fine line, at least for me, between cute florals and full-on granny time, ya know? But I love it! And that illusion dress? OMZ! So cute! That halter swimdress? To die for! If only I had the monies…oh well. A gal can dream.
There were some fatshion fails (IMHO), but let’s focus on the positive, shall we? Cute swim suits! Adorbz dresses! Practical garb for almost every gal! No worries. Way to go Roaman’s! Woo! Enjoy 40% off yoru highest priced item with coupon code: RD32618 (expires 7/6/2011)

Super cuteness! I’m surprised too. Of late Roaman’s was mostly Clothing To Sit And Watch Your Stories In. Smokin’ hot deathfatz need not apply.
Imma check out the catalog & maybe get some new summer duds.

Yes, too true! This stuff is on their site roamans.com as well as onestopplus.com just so you know. =0)

see, i *hate* the two pockets on shirts. even after a breast reduction, my tits are big enough and don’t need any more attention drawn to them. ha! but otherwise it’s cute. :3

Understood. I can’t speak about it ’cause I’ve never bought one, just thought they’d be a cute layering piece. But yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from. It’s why I cannot buy/wear the tops/dresses with the wrapped look. Like one layer over another? My boobs are all like, “Woooo water slide!” Ha-ha!

The one thing that I hate about all of those catalogs is they have thin to maybe in-betweenie models, no real plus size models. I don’t want to see what the clothes are going to look like on some thin woman, I want to see what they’ll look like on someone who’s built like me!

YESSS!!! I think the only reason I didn’t mention it in the post is because I’m so bitter/jaded about it that it would have been one big rant about just that! Ha-ha! I know how ya feel. Ugh!

I agree. How something hangs on a size 12 model isn’t all that helpful to me. I want to see some apples & pears in my catalog.

Yes, I agree. At least SOME varying body shapes!

I have a similar love/hate relationship with the fat man clothing catalogs I get in the mail. Most of the things I find in the King Size catalog launch me into a frothy rage, because I think sometimes they just put things in there to see if someone will actually purchase it.

Plus, the models (at least in the mens catalogs) are super tall and not fat. Where are the fat men? They’re the ones buying the stuff, and I know that I don’t look like that tall chiseled man with the graying hair.

    It makes me crazy!

Bruce! How have you been? Busy it seems! Good to hear from you! Yes, I get the King Size catalogs, too and have the same gripes! In general fats are just not represented in FAT CLOTHING CATALOGS?!?! I hate that there’s little fashion in it, too! It’s mostly basics and even some of that is not great. But you’re doing things to get the word out and change that (hopefully, if they’ll listen)! Thanks for the comment! =0)
