Very Interesting (Prop 8 Related):
One of my regular customers often brings in old cookbooks and historical books and such and today he brought in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (which was signed by many nations, right here in S.F. on December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted. Which includes marriage as a human right (pay attention to the wording):
Article 16.
* (1) Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.
* (2) Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.
* (3) The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State
If you notice, it does not stipulate marriage between a man and a woman, but that men and women of full age without limitation have the right to marry! This is fab! Full doc here: http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/index.shtml
