This year we had a potluck at our friend tommyo’s for X-Mas. The food was incredible! The company was delightful. The drinks runneth over and the fun and games were spectacular! Things have been very tough for me financially since opening the café (thus giving up my unemployment and having zero income now) so we made goodies for friends instead. P gave B & I the most vibrant and gorgeous scarves ever (for real they look fucking designer, y’all!) and J gave me a beautiful knitted wrap made of sugar cane! Tommyo devised a plan for his gift giving: while we were playing the domino game “Mexican Train” whoever won a round would get to pick a mystery prize (a table of a kajillion wrapped gifts were nearby to choose from). We all started the game with one gift and by the game’s end everyone had several fab things to take home and enjoy. But that’s not all!

You see, I got the greatest gift of all (besides B). I had written some songs a few months ago and sent them to Tommyo to fiddle around with since he writes melodies the way I write lyrics. He took one song “I’m not 19” of mine and turned it into a fucking masterpiece! He played his 12 string guitar and sang the song for me/us that night and I was speechless and moved to tears and nearly full-on ugly crying! Ha-ha!

I wish I had it for you all to hear because I tell you he took my crappy high school girl lyrics and turned them into a radio-ready song! The boys even added a few lyrics to it! I cannot wait to get an audio copy of it so I can learn the melody and new lyrics and rerecord it with him for the fucking universe to enjoy! I’m not being conceded I am telling you the truth! I am still in awe of its greatness! But I’ll let you be the judge when we finally get it all worked out on tape.
