Random Outfit Post is Random
So last Friday, you know the shopping one, my friend Jeanette and I decided to hang out. I was feeling funky, fresh, dope and fly and so I put together an outfit I’d never worn before. Not only that, the top I didn’t even pick out. Someone at Cupcakes and Muffintops insisted it is too cute for me not to get and so I bought it without even trying it on. It was that cute! But it took me months before I attempted to wear it and until this particular Friday, I hadn’t found a way to work it. The cardigan has a similar story. I’d purchased it for a steal at Target on clearance, but it’s ivory and what am I doing with an ivory cardigan? I get things dirty without even trying! It has this lovely deco-esque square latticework on the front…just fabulous, which is why I bought it of course. Never in my dreams had I thought of these two cherished but unworn pieces together…but they do, perfectly:
And I started rocking my “pomp” again. Which I am quite enjoying. I am sick of my shortie hair in the back, but I am hopeful and patient that they will get to growin’ soon here. I wasn’t sure what color glasses to wear, so I went with my usual/casual/go-to pair of dark purple. You can hardly see, but I’m wearing the earrings and necklace set my then fiance bought me 6 months before our wedding. I hadn’t worn the necklace in ages and I love it’s simple elegance. And of course my usual Avenue denim lite straight leg jeans. I am loathe to even imagine the day I need to buy new jeans. I have five pair of these and wear them constantly. They are thin and have stretch. I buy them a size bigger than I should, but I never have to unbutton them and they are the perfect length this way. They are discontinued though, so yeah, they better last forever. Ha-ha!
The Puggyman doesn’t like his picture taken. Always a suspicious eye when the camera is out:
I had never gone black Friday shopping, truly. I’d always worked on such days for my many years of retail. Jeanette and I only went to Avenue, but it was fun! No crowds, no rude clerks, it was fabulous. For a grand total of twenty-six dollars, I made out like a bandit: Two free tote bags*, one pair of leg warmers, one printed henley, one black henly, one pair of glam earrings and one pair of sock-slippers. And the tote bags are nice, too! It was not only the best black Friday experience I’d ever had, but it was the best Avenue experience, too! I will say that I am super disappointed and a bit angry that they no longer carry EE tights…not even on their website, except for the plainest of plain ones. I did order a pair of the sweater tights in an E, but they haven’t come yet, so fingers crossed that they fit. This shopping trip was a hoot and a half, too. Jeanette and I tried on shoes and played with accessories and she got so many cute things, too! Then it was decided that these were the sexiest and most glam shoes ever! But I insist that we find the exact same style, or similar, in a flat. I refuse to suffer for such beauty. We tried them on and made up stories of our would-be glamorous lives, had we these magical shoes and finally put them away with a catch in our throats…if you know of a similar shoe in a flat? DO EMAIL ME! Ha-ha! *I made two separate purchases, thus earning two free with purchase tote bags.
Your pomp is fierce! Glad you had so much fun!
Veronica: Thank you! No one has ever said my hair was fierce, love ya!
I have those sweater tights in an E and they fit me just fine. They are super stretchy and VERY warm and I absolutely love them. I wear a 26 on bottom and have the old “apple” or “strawberry” shaped body, though, and there were some people on Fats saying that the tights didn’t fit their thighs. Also, they are low in the crotch, but you can still pull them up to your boobs! Typical Avenue tights. Bastards.
Your hair and outfit are great! You look so cute!
purplekeychain: Thank you! I’m a classic pear, so I’m not sure if they will work for me, but the gals at my local Avenue are super cool now, so they may let me exchange. Who knows. The old crew they had there was deplorable! I mean, I walked in when they called this lady a bitch to her face! Drama and mayhem…so glad that’s gone. Ha-ha! Thanks for the tights review.
LOVE the Pomp! Very cute and put together… come dress me. I fail at casual and cute. its either office-hawt or club…. or hot mess… I really fail in that category 🙂
Fattboomballatti: I would love to dress you. I don’t really have a style, per se, but I do tend to mix things in odd ways. I always feel like I fail at the club look thing, but the gals I go with always make me feel like a million bucks, so who cares. Thank you.
Random outfit is random, yes, but kickass.
This was the first time I went shopping on Black Friday in… pretty much forever. Still, since I was with a friend in the booming metropolis of Olivehurst, yeah, the crowds weren’t all that big. And my friend did get a nice deal on a pair of cowboy boots for riding her horse. Me? I watched her get boots.
But right before I came here, I ordered a new coat on BCOutlet. My old purple glory is starting to lose its luster, just a bit and I’ve been thinking about retiring it, but I needed a replacement first. Well, by the 12th I should have a rather awesome bright orange swing coat to wear. AND IT WAS ONLY FIFTY BUCKS!!! I fucking rule coat shopping! MWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Twistie: Long time no talk, lady! How are you? I hope you are well, because I know you’re awesome!!! Link to the jacket? I’d love to see what you got. Fatty coat shopping is tough, yo! I would love to see an entire death fatty post on coats…without wool! I know, impossible. Perhaps I’ll do the research and write it up myself. It’s an awful ordeal for me, always. No wool and 65″ hips do not make for easy shopping. And thanks, I call Sir Puggyman “The Duke of Cute” because he totally is! <3 ya!
Oh, and I forgot to say that the portrait of Puggyman is superfantastic in the extreme! He totally rules.
Wonderful outfit, as always!
Larissa: Aw, thanks hun. I never really feel super stylin’, but I just happen to that day. Ha-ha!
I’m definitely among the living, and that beats what’s in second place. I also had a rather fab and gear Thanksgiving followed by an eye-bubbling LOTR marathon.
As for the coat, here’s a link:
http://www.bcoutlet.com/outlet/Petite-Trapunto-Coat.aspx?PfId=254798&DeptId=13857&ProductTypeId=1
Yes, it’s petite, but they also have one for those who are less vertically challenged than I. It does, however, definitely contain wool. It’s a blend. It also comes in navy for those who haven’t the cajones (or the coloring) for bright orange. I think it’s going to be rather fabulous on me. It’s certainly going to make me feel my Super Fatty Powers.
Twistie: We had our own LOTR marathon, too!!! Too funny! But I have to admit, I love them all, but at the end this time I turned to my husband and said, “Well, shit! Why didn’t those eagle/hawk things just take Forod to fucking Mordor in the first damned place?! It would have taken like two days, tops!!! In and out!” He insists that Sauron would have “seen” no matter what. I Figure they fly in, toss the ring of doom into the fires of Mordor and boom, done! Back to the Shire for heaven’s sake. He was sooooo not pleased with my quickie solution, as per usual. Ha-ha! I know most LOTR fans would be annoyed or offended by that, but I found it plausible and hilarious. Ha-ha!
Beautiful coat! Wow! Thanks for sharing the link. Looks lovely, hope it shows up and fits like a dream!
OMG….loved those shoes and have been continued to live out my imaginary life in them in my head ever since. I found a gorgeous vera wang flat that is similar, but its $275 and probably not wide enough anyway.
I need those glitter peep toe shoes…my life now feels totally incomplete without them.
Jeanette: Link me to those Vera Wang’s and I will see if my bargain hunting skills can work their magic…and maybe find the width measurements, too! I need these magical shoes in gold and red now. I wanna be Dorothy from the damned Wizard of Oz, yo! <3

I’ve seem them on various sites and they are always the same price.
I know, yo…I’m telling you I totally feel “less than” without them. I may actually go back and buy those pumps and just wear them around the house!
Maybe I need prozac! LOL!
(PS, not making light of prozac users…i get the seriousness of it all)
Jeanette: I know! The temptation to own the thing you want, even if it’s not quite right or comfortable or totally you? I get it! But the way those shoes made us feel is a lie, right? I mean, yeah, you can wear them around the house…but to what end? You could injure your ankle again and they are so not worth that!!! I love you, but I would advise against it. Though I’m wondering if a clever cobbler could transform those babies in to flats? Magic!
Your. Hair. Looks. Awesome.
Any chance you can do a tut? I seemed to be out the room when the other girls had the class on doing stuff with hair :/
Chirstine: Thanks, hun! What is a tut? I know what you mean though. I didn’t have a big sister or fashionable girlfriends and was more of a tomboy growing up anyway. By the time I was interested in that kind of thing it was too late. I just try to make it look like other gals, I find my own way. I know most gals rat their hair into a pomp, but I do not. I just take the front and brush it up vertically and then twist the ends, hold them to my head and push them forward until they pomp on their own. ha–ha!
Sorry, pidgin English! I meant tutorial
I’ve tried doing it various ways, but it never seems to stay up very long!
Christine: No worries! I use a hairspray, I think it’s Tresseme` 24 hour body, that stuff holds so well and isn’t too sticky/tacky/stiff. It’s the only hairspray I use now.
You’re welcome! The feeling is mutual:=)
Haha, well, you were the day I met you, AND you are whenever you post on the blog, so as far as I know you’re amazingly stylish!
Larissa: Where/when did we meet? Forgive me, my memory is the pits lately. And thank you. I don’t know what I do to be considered stylish, but I will take it. Ha-ha!
I love orange and white together, especially stripes. Adorable top. Looks great on you.
