Fat Events (I’m in a Funk)
I have been struggling with some writer’s block, in case ya didn’t notice. That and, well, I have been feeling quite disconnected from the fat community as a whole. It’s hard to articulate, actually. I suppose in some ways I have distanced myself from a lot of things and people and I really don’t know why that is or how I can best fix or change that. Maybe I shouldn’t change some things… I don’t know. What I do know is that I always come back here when I need to get something off of my chest or have something to share. I realize that these last several months have been more about me and my struggles and less and less about fat…anything!
There are so many things that I have already written about and so many wonderful bloggers in the ‘sphere that I often feel I no longer have a unique voice or a new perspective to share. I’m also not as involved or working on or towards anything specific at the moment and that certainly isn’t helping my writing situation. Usually these writing funks don’t last very long, but this one has already lasted longer than most. I’m trying not to think about it or put too much pressure on myself.
I do have a bunch of cool stuff to attend this summer that I’m very excited about. For one, I’ll be attending the NAAFA conference for the first time AND be part of a blogger’s panel (WOOT!). The next six Saturdays I will be going to Thick ‘N Sexy Saturdays (www.Thick408.com) for their fatty dance parties which are always fun! And Big Moves Bay Area has a show next weekend, “Jazz Hams” that I cannot wait to see! Raks Africa have “Hotter Than July Bellydance Extravaganza” on July 28th. And September 7-9 is NoLose, yo! I am not yet sure if I’ll be able to attend (broke as a joke), but we shall see.
So many fun fatty things and here I am in a funk and feeling disconnected from my fat community?! I know…I’m nuts. What can I do about it?! I hope all is well with you and yours. Do take care of Yourself. You are loved and you are worth it!
YOU are loved and YOU are worth it. 🙂 This struck a chord with me tonight: There are so many things that I have already written about and so many wonderful bloggers in the ‘sphere that I often feel I no longer have a unique voice or a new perspective to share.” I’m there a lot, honestly. It’s good to see you keep writing though. I’m looking forward to hearing about how the NAAFA conference goes!
JeninCanada: Thank you so much!
