Swim suits

April30

So, I found a cute swim suit on OneStopPlus and found a 50% off your highest priced item coupon code (OSPFB9, expires 12/15) online and took the plunge. I bought this ruffle-halter swim suit/dress thingy and after going swimming in it the first time I went and ordered it in the other color right away! It’s fun, it’s flirty, it’s cute and it super comfortable! I feel covered and supported, but not inhibited. And the best part? Each suit was only $15!!!

With most swim suits running upwards of $60-$129 lately, especially the plus sized variety, I wasn’t sure I’d ever find a cute suit I could afford. I spent hours, all together, on eBay scouring the plus sized suits for a ray of hope for something cute that didn’t promise “slimming” “Control” or “miracle”…alas, it never happened. For ever suit I found that I liked, there were issues of measurements or bidding wars or just not enough selection.

I don’t know why retailers get away with charging so much for so little in this case, but they do and unless you can sew you’re kind of on your own here. While this bummed me out, I didn’t give up! I tried on maybe 6 suits at Walmart and was considering some of Avenue’s stuff when I found this bathing beauty:

I went ahead and ordered it and even waited a week after its arrival to try it on. I was hesitant because I was all too familiar with that disappointment. When you want something badly or just for it to work for your purposes and then FAIL! Not my failure, mind you, but he garment or designer (looking at you Avenue jeans *StinkEye*). So…I lucked out…big time!

I’m a fat gal on a tiny budget. Finding a suit that I like and fit for $60 was a bit of a pipe dream, but one I was willing to hold onto for awhile if I thought the suit would last a few years. Now? Now for $30 + shipping, I got TWO SUITS!!! Yes, they’re exactly the same except in two colors…but who cares?! It fits and it’s cute and it’s comfortable! I love that you can lengthen the skirt part to suit your comfort level. I love how it hugs my belly!

When I first tried it on I didn’t look in the mirror. Then I went into my hallway for the true test: full length mirror time! The first thing that struck me was the gorgeous neckline…the second was how it hugs my belly. I was surprised by how it nearly accentuates it, actually, but I was kind of into it by that point. And then I did a happy dance because yay swim suits! And my belly? I love my belly! Why the fuck shouldn’t I?!

And so here I am, in all of my glory, for you to see what this suit looks like on a true death fatty! Special thanks to my gal Jeanette for snapping the pics and inviting me to swim at her place that awesome Friday afternoon. So nice!

That is an awesome suit. It’s adorable! I wish I’d of shopped online, I ended up going into a Target, and while the thing fits, I dislike the look of it and it cost me what a better looking suit would have. 😛

That is adorable! Both the color and the style look like a million dollars on you. Very retro pinup!

You look gorgeous, and that colour is lovely. Not sure how much I like the yellow, but it might be deceptively nice on.

My secret shame is having not been swimming (or to the burlesque class I want to go to) because of how much I dislike my body :/ It means a huge deal that you’re willing to put yourself out there, where you’re vulnerable to all the anonymous idiots on the internet. I have so much respect and envy for your attitude and confidence!
