I’ve had a few people recently ask me about blogging. They ask me why I wanted to start my blog. They ask if they should start one. They ask me how I keep up with my blog writing and well, obvious to some, I don’t. At least, I haven’t been recently. I always encourage people to start a blog if they have the inkling to do so. I always tell them it’s worth a shot and to do it for them and not for an audience. I write this blog for me and no one else because if I think about who might be reading it or who is actually reading it I’ll freak out about it. Lately, I’ve been doing my best to keep the self-imposed pressure at bay and just roll with however I’m feeling each day.
This is great and all, but it’s lead to some huge gaps in posting and that does bum me out a bit. Mostly because when I’m writing I’m using a part of my brain that I don’t normally use in my daily life. When I’m writing I’m also processing and working through things. I write because I have to, ya know? I don’t plan my posts out and often just open up a blank document and just start typing. I often say that it’s like my mind isn’t involved, that somehow my brain and fingers just know what to do. But when the writer’s block arrives? Devastation! So, I breathe and let go.
There were weeks of this year that I wrote so much it boggles my mind looking back, but then there was the drought of June and that was really tough. It really is a mind-body-soul thing. If some shit is out of whack, it all goes with it! And such is life, eh? I write for this blog, I write my thoughts and I make lists. As it turns out, this is the first time I’m admitting to it, I like making lists. I just think they help me organize my thoughts, even if I don’t physically use the list again. Ha!
I encourage any and all who have ever wanted to dip their toe into the blog-o-sphere to just do it. You’ve got nothing to lose and it can be fun if not a great learning experience. You’re welcome to guest blog here (email me at email@example.com) and I know lots of other bloggers who’d love that as well. Because it’s not easy to come up with fresh content all of the time. And it’s fun to see new stuff!
We are all so fortunate to have such a vibrant fat community online and I encourage you all to check out a fat blog you haven’t before. You can hit up my blogroll over there or go directly to the Notes from the Fat-O-Sphere feed. If you don’t normally comment, consider doing so, we bloggers love comments! I have made some wonderful friends and met some amazing people through this blog o’ mine and I wish others could experience that special kind of love, too.
